Generally, sustainability is not a high priority for fencing companies nation-wide. Most customers are not told where the wood they are using has come from, making it difficult to determine the ethical pros and cons of installing a wooden fence. Fortunately, some companies have taken this important component of fencing into consideration. Western Red Cedar is a type of tree that grows primarily in the northwest and is a sustainable source for lumber.
